Métis Art

I grew up in Northern Alberta and almost always had a lovely pair of moccasins (slippers) to run around in, made by my Grandmother. Both of my Grandmothers were great at sewing and other craft, but I was more interested in being outdoors – not learning to sit still and learn these skills. Covid arrived and I became more interested in my ancestry and in learning traditional Métis arts/crafts. In 2020, I made my first pair of Mukluks at a class taught by elder Joyce Beaver, in St. Albert, Alberta. I now teach beading, moccasin and mitt making classes, as well as sell beaded items primarily by commission. I am a current member of the Métis Nation of BC, and the Alberta Métis nation.
